"Boudoir" is the french term for a woman's dressing room or bedroom, which is the most common place, along with luxury hotel suites or boutique hotel rooms, to take this kind of images.

Boudoir sessions are very popular among brides, who often have an album of boudoir style photographs made as a present for their soon to be husbands. These images also rapidly gain popularity as gifts for anniversaries, birthdays, or in celebration of weight loss or cosmetic alterations.
